National Archives' Citizen Archivist Dashboard

Dear Fellows:

Im certain you have heard about the National Archives and Records Administration’s (NARA) plans to launch the Citizen Archivist Dashboard. In your opinion, does this effort signal a democratization of the profession? How does it re-conceptualize the work of an archivist? Access? (See the link below)

I can't wait to hear your opinions regarding this matter!

  1. I did hear about the program Brenda, but I did not really know what it entailed until now. Thanks for the article.

I think that it is great that the government/archives is being open with the information that is held within and hopefully the material has been looked at, at least a little to know that there is not "sensitive" information contained within the documents. In addition, I think that it creates buy-in and support from the masses about the importance of archives and preserving the historical record.
